We are hosting a community screening of Defiant Lives, a film which looks at the rise of the Disabled People’s Movement over the last thirty years, focusing on Britain, America and Australia. The film weaves together never-before-seen archival footage with the stories of disabled men and women as they moved from being warehoused in institutions to fighting for independence and control over their lives.
GMCDP thought it was essential that disabled people in Greater Manchester got the opportunity to view this film, which is why we are funding this free screening. The event is open to anyone who is interested in attending, and we welcome non-disabled people and disabled people alike.
If you are able to circulate this event more information and the registration page can be found here: https://www.gmcdp.com/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=14
There is also a GMCDP Members Meeting taking place after the screening, which is a chance for members to come together and discuss what they want to achieve in 2018, and what it means to be a member of GMCDP. If people are interested in attending this meeting or in becoming members, membership is currently free and they can register here: https://www.gmcdp.com/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=1. They can also chose to register on the day, if they prefer.
