Trafford’s very own local radio station is about to start broadcasting on DAB digital Radio.
From Tuesday the 31st of October 2017, Trafford Sound will be available across much of Greater Manchester on digital radio which can be accessed in cars and at home without the need for an internet connection.
The station will launch the new service at 11:00 am when Chair and Content Controller Pete Brettle will join presenter Damian Skelhorn and many of the station’s team of volunteers to celebrate this landmark event.
In the afternoon Susan Leigh will be joined by our special guest Mayor of Trafford Jonathan Coupe from 2:00 pm for her Afternoon Chat show.
At 4:00 pm we will unveil our new Drivetime show as former Piccadilly Radio DJ Pete Reeves returns to the airwaves for the weekday teatime slot.
Our weekday daytime schedule includes local news and information, along with guests discussing the activities of community groups, as well as some well known names. We play music from a wide range of genres and in the evenings we feature a broad range of specialist and minority interest programmes. Sport is also on our schedule with Saturday afternoons dedicated to supporting all sorts of local teams from across the borough.
The station is managed and run entirely by volunteers, funded by donations, grant funding and special events organised by our volunteers.
Trafford Sound was conceived over eight years ago, and has been broadcasting as an internet radio station since June 2015, available also to smartphone users via the TuneIn Radio app. Our Studios are in The Broomwood Community and Wellbeing Centre in Timperley.
Test Transmissions are currently broadcast on our DAB+ channel which you will find on the Manchester Trial multiplex (ensemble).
Trafford Sound is the trading name of Trafford Community Media CIC a community enterprise company, run on a not-for-profit basis.
