ISSUED ON BEHALF OF THRIVE TRAFFORD

Thrive Trafford is helping to deliver Trafford Locality Partnerships 2014-15 Voluntary Sector Grants (VSGs) that will distribute £120,000 to community, voluntary and charity sector groups who want to run projects that will enhance their local communities.

Three of Trafford's Locality Partnerships- Old Trafford & Stretford, South Trafford, and Urmston & Partington are launching their Voluntary Sector Grant schemes on Monday 12th May 2014. Sale Locality Partnership will be launching their grant scheme later in the year when they have completed further community consultation on what the grants should fund.

Groups from each locality will have £30,000 of the pot to bid for delivering projects that will enhance their locality. Groups can bid for up to £4,000.

The localities are defined by these Council wards:

  • Old Trafford & Streford- Gorse Hill, Longford, Stretford, Clifford.

  • Urmston & Partington- Bucklow St Martins (Partington), Davyhulme East &West, Flixton, Urmston

Applications will be shortlisted against the criteria of the programme and those successful projects will then be invited to attend the Participatory Budgeting events held in each locality throughout July.

At the Participatory Budgeting events, project groups will hold a stall to provide information and explain their projects' activities and outcomes. At the end of the event, members and residents of the locality will vote for their favourite projects. The highest scoring projects will then be awarded the funding to deliver their schemes.
