    However, the briefing points out that anyone considering taking up the role will want to know what legal duties, responsibilities and potential liabilities are involved.

    The AFMT funds projects that give disadvantaged young people the chance to develop an existing interest in the great outdoors. Projects costs, e.g. hiking trips, Outward Bound courses and climbing walls are all things which would be considered for funding. They prefer applicants that have done some fundraising.

    Charities and voluntary organisations can apply

    The Football Foundation has announced that its Facilities Grant Scheme is now open for applications for projects that improve facilities for football and other sport in local communities.

    Sport in the community is about local people, local facilities, local groups and organisations working together to provide opportunities to enjoy sport.

    This is a simple scheme aimed at giving community clubs a helping hand and providing the opportunity to raise the money they need to invest in their club.

    Any sports club can apply as long as they are registered with their sport's National Governing Body or local authority.

    Grant amount: £250 to £1000.

    The Bernard Sunley Charitable Trust is a large charitable trust with a wide range of interests and limited written guidance for groups and organisations who wish to apply.

    Projects can be funded in fields including education, arts, children and youth, community, health, older people, social welfare and environment. The foundation can support capital projects, endowments, scholarship funds, research programmes and research funding.

    The ASDA Foundation is ASDA's charitable trust which was set up in 1988 to support local good causes chosen by their colleagues, and is funded by profits from the mid-week national lottery. They will fund a wide range of good causes with which their colleagues are involved — including everything from local charities and playgroups to football teams.
